now I have seen everything...

Wed Jul 15, 2009, 3:19 PM
Since my beloved Phantom's reign is coming to an end (his last day is next Saturday :sniff:), I decided to take in a show last night.

Howard's in great shape, and the rest of the cast was wonderful as well.

What I didn't expect to see, however, was the Phantom taking a little spill during "Music of the Night".
He scared the hell out of me with that little tumble (though I have to admit, I almost laughed as well ^^;).
The amazing thing about him, though, is that he was back up on his feet in a blink of an eye, and continued on without missing a beat.
I bet some people didn't even notice it.
Thankfully he wasn't hurt, and we laughed about it after the show when I saw him at the stage door (I had to make sure he was alright!).

I've seen Christine and Raoul trip and tumble before (at different performances - Chris during the graveyard scene and Raoul during the curtain call).
Now, I can truly say I have seen it all.

Oh, how I love that man...

Are you going to see John Cudia?

I am looking forward to seeing John as the Phantom.
He was actually my first Raoul, but I've never seen him as the Phantom.
But I think I'll wait a month or two...it's a bit hard fighting the vacationing crowd at the moment. ^^;

I was looking forward to seeing Howard McGillan. I haven't seen him before, but I haven't seen John Cudia either. XD
It'll be a few months before I actually do get to see it. :P

Dude I've seen a performance where the boat to Eriks home was completly missing! I was thinking 'wtf? Since whe was there a clear path to Eriks place?' My jaw dropped with shock but the masses didn't seem to take note so meyah

I adore Howard, so his leaving is quite hard for me to take.
But of course, there's always the pleasure of seeing him in something new, as well as the new Phantom coming in...

The show must go on, indeed.

I'm kind of disappointed that I won't be able to see him, but I'm looking forward to seeing John.

That boat can be quite temperamental at times, I've been told.
A friend of mine (who seems to be an accident magnet) has seen it get stuck in one of the tracks on the floor.
So, what did Howard do?
He got off the boat, lifted the darn thing with Christine still in it to get it unstuck, and dragged it around to the "I Remember" position, all the while still lip-syncing and not missing a line!
She said he made the Phantom looked like Hercules.

I've seen some mishaps myself, but I don't think I can top that...
Gotta love live theatre.

I heard John sing "Music of the Night" last year at the Broadway in the Park concert, and he sounded great.
He was quite funny, too, actually.
I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. :D

From what I've been told and have confirmed via research the boat is remote controled. They used to have problems during the 1st season cause it was on the same frequency as the local fire fighters. But perhaps that's just Her Majesties, it may be different else where.
I went a bit over board when I used Phantom as my case study last year ^.^;; was gonna do my dissertation on it but my tutor made me move over to seeing the evoltion of Sweeny Todd, otherwise known as 'A String Of Pearls'
